I am not taking any new bookings at this time. If you have booked already or have a voucher don't worry, I will be honoring these.

If you're new to photography or just wanting to improve your skills then my photography courses are just right for you. The courses are enjoyable and informative; everyone is made to feel welcome and are free to learn at their own pace.

Most photography course bookings are by arrangement so once you've bought your course please contact me so we can arrange a mutually agreeable date. The maximum number per course is four, other than the
1-2-1 sessions which are of course for one. If you'd prefer to arrange a date before purchasing then

What people say...

"I booked a 1:2:1 session with Steve to understand the basic concepts of photography so that I can finally be in charge of my camera rather than ending up with a few good and many bad shots. After just two hours I'm ready to come off auto. I've gained skills and confidence which I'd lost somewhere along the way trying to teach myself with books and online courses. There's nothing quite like an expert sharing their knowledge, practicing with you, and patiently explaining aperture, shutter speed, ISO setting and much more. I'd highly recommend Steve as a teacher to anyone." Uta (2023)

"I had been asked to photograph a friends wedding and spent a day with Steve at the wedding venue to help prepare me. His knowledge and skills in this genre of photography are first class as are his patience and mentoring skills. I learnt so much and finished the day feeling far more confident for the big day ahead." Keith (2023)

"The couple of hours spent with you has, without doubt, made a significant impact on my photography." Kevin (2023)

"A thoroughly enjoyable photoshoot at the Bluebell Railway under the expert guidance of Steve. Great to go trackside and behind the scenes to capture some stunning photographs - steam, fire, water and classic engineering are a heady mix! In addition I was able to improve my photography skills under the tuition of a professional. I would certainly recommend the experience." Roger (2021)

"The morning is well run, and can be used by photographers just starting out, wanting to improve their photographic skills or for those that want to get photographs that cannot be gotten on a normal visit to the Bluebell Railway." Colin (2021)

"I went to Steve as a complete novice with a camera. Steve patiently took me through the basics and set up my camera to make it easy for me to go away and practice taking shots. Steve gave me some really useful basic tips on how to do this and I am looking forward to returning for further tuition." Rosie (2021)

"I attended my first booked photographic lesson this weekend and after the long Covid “holiday” it was worth the wait. Steve explained in a simple but detailed way and answered my questions as to the best camera for me and what I was looking to photograph. His understanding of my requirements helped me leave my lesson, knowing how a camera works and the right one to purchase without wasting my money. I can’t wait to start some courses with Steve with my new camera I purchased the very next day! Great knowledge, patient, honest, experienced and really wants to help you learn." Jan (2021)

"We had a great day on the Bluebell railway photography course with Steve. We learnt a lot on composition and  techniques to tell stories in our photos and the techniques to then achieve it. I would book again for future course and special thanks to the Bluebell for hosting a safe and full access to their unique facility." Nigel & Laura (2020)

"Thank you again for your help. It was an extremely daunting task, taking photos for a friends wedding but having talked through each stage during our session really helped out. Your research/ insight into the venue was really valuable. Really pleased with the results, as was the couple." Russell (2020)

"I had the good fortune to have an individual session with Steve at Cuckmere Haven. I came with some specific things I wanted to learn and Steve more than met my expectations. He has a relaxed but highly effective way of imparting skills and understanding: highly recommended!" Sion (2020)

"Steve is a very knowledgeable and highly professional photographer. Perhaps more importantly for me on the day was his calm and patient mentoring and approach despite my ineptness!!” Peter (2020)

"I had an introductory session with Steve. Throughout he answered a multitude of questions and was happy to go back and recap on anything I wasn't initially confident with. I would highly recommend a photography lesson with Steve - it has given me a really thorough understanding of all the key principles as to how to take a great picture, and left me feeling really excited and motivated to get out and practice my photography skills further." Laura (2019)

"I received a camera for my birthday and after a failed photography course online I had messed up the settings and learnt nothing. I spent some time with Steve who was able to show me how the camera works. He was also able to show me certain techniques to get the best shot I can for an upcoming holiday. Steve was great very professional and did a great job of explaining the basics to me as a novice. He was extremely patient and I would highly recommend him for anyone wishing to get some knowledge in photography." Rob (2019)

"I recently completed an introductory course with Steve and left feeling ten times more confident than when I arrived! Steve covered all the basics, even checking with me before I arrived to find out what model camera I had so he was prepared with really specific information for me. Steve is a very patient coach - teaching  all the basics in a relaxed 'classroom' style session before moving on to some practical tasks." Dan (2019)
